Mild Yeast Infection

What Causes Fungal Infections?

Most women suffering from the problem of a yeast infection often find that it can be very irritating and uncomfortable. However, yeast infections are far more common in women than in men. Chronic yeast infections are also seen more often in women. This may be down to a number of different causes from hormonal changes to a poor diet. According to various medical studies on the NCBI database, stress is also one of the leading causes of constant or even mild yeast infection, and it was discovered that a high percentage of yeast infection cases had links to recent stressful events in their lives. So, it becomes essential to eliminate all forms of stress when one is experiencing yeast infections repeatedly.

Men are also prone to yeast infections as well, mainly due to a weaken immune system, or some long term illnesses like diabetes. Yeast infections on the penis are also associated with poor personal hygiene in men.

Yeast infections mainly occur due to the yeast known as Candida albicans. When the number of Candida cells increase abnormally in our body then it causes infection in our body. Other factors include: oral contraceptives, antibiotics, and the pills that supress our immune system contribute in causing yeast infections in the body. Sometimes using perfumes, body deodorants or even hygiene sprays for the vagina also trigger yeast infections. Any pregnant woman and those who use douches are more likely to catch yeast infections.

There may sometimes be cases where a mild yeast infection just clears on its own but then keeps returning. In such cases, one shouldn’t ignore the problem, and instead look to make some adjustments to their diet to cut down the sugary and fermented foods and show a have a more active lifestyle.

Natural Treatment of Mild Yeast Infection

Yeast infection mainly occurs due to the overgrowth of Candida albicans yeast, which in normal conditions lives inside our body. So the most important thing that we should remember is to prevent and control the proliferation of this Candida yeast, by not giving it the ideal conditions for overgrowth, which can cause mild yeast infection. So the first home remedies of such an infection are:

Start a course of Probiotics
Start a course of Probiotics
  • Have natural yoghurt (unsweetened) & Probiotic drinks – This would boost the culture of good lactobacillus bacteria in our diet that keep the number of Candida under check. Topical application of yoghurt can also be beneficial.

  • Taking Lactobacillus acidophilus or Probiotic supplements can prove efficient.

  • Mix 2 to 3 tbsp. of white vinegar in lukewarm water and douche with that every day for one week.

  • Avoid starchy food and sugary foods – These foods actually feed the yeast, and to cure the mild yeast infection properly, it is important to eliminate such sugary products from the diet.

  • Garlic is a natural anti-fungal ingredient and if used as a suppository, it can treat or prevent certain yeast infections.

If this is a first time and you have not experienced any mild yeast infection, then it is important to find out if you actually have a yeast infection or some other illness.
